PenStrep 20\20 suspension (penicillin G procaine and dihydrostreptomycin sulfate 

suspension) 

Composition: 

1) Each millimeter contains: 

2) Penicillin G procaine: 200,000iu 

3) Dihydrostreptomycin sulphate: 250,000iu 

4) Solvents ad: 1ml 

Description: 

1) The product is provided as a white or off-white suspension 

2) Pharmacological actions 

3) The combination of penicillin G procaine and dihydrostreptomycin acts additive 

and in some cases synergistic 

4) Procaine penicillin G is a small-spectrum penicillin with a bactericidal action 

against mainly gram-positive bacteria like campylobacter, clostridium, corynebacterium, 

erysipelothrix, haemophilus, listeria, penicillinase negative staphylococcus 

and Streptococcus spp 

5) Dihydrostreptomycin is an aminoglycoside with a bactericidal action against mainly 

Gram-negative bacteria like E. coli, klebsiella, pasteurella, salmonella and 

staphylococcus spp 

Indications: 

Arthritis, mastitis and gastrointestinal, respiratory and urinary tract infection 

caused by penicillin and dihydrostreptomycin sensitive micro-organisms, like campylobacter, 

clostridium, corynebacterium, E. coli, erysipelothrix, haemophllus, 

klebsiolla, listeria, pasteurella, salmonella, and staphylococcus spp., in calves, 

cattle, goats, sheep and swine. 

Contra-indications: 

1) Hypersensitivity to penicillin, procaine and/or aminoglycosides 

2) Administration to animals with a serious impaired renal function 

3) Concurrent administration with tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides and 

lincosamides 

Side effects: 

1) Administration of therapeutic dosages of penicillin G procaine can result in abortion 

in sows. Ototoxity, neurotoxicity or nephrotoxicity 

2) Hypersensitivity reactions 

Dosage: 

1) For intramuscular administration; shake well before use 

2) Cattle, calves, goats, sheep and swine: 1ml per 25kg body weight for 3 days 

3) Do not administer more than 20.0ml in cattle, more than 10.0ml in swine and more 

than 5.0ml in calves, sheep and goats per injection site 

Withdrawal times: 

For meat: 28 days; for milk: 7 days.

Store in a dry and cool place, protect from light.
