Allendazole Oral Suspension

1) Composition: it is a white or yellowish suspension, and each ml contains
albendazole 100mg
2) Specification: 1,000ml, 500ml


Pharmacological properties:

  Albendazole is a broad spectrum anthelmintic for control of the following infections in sheep, goats, cattle and camels:

--larval and adult stages of gastro-intesinal nematodes: Haemonchus spp., Ostertagia spp., (including hypobiotic Ostertagia larvae), trichostrongylus spp., Oesophagostomum spp., Cooperia spp., Nematodirus spp., Capillaria spp., Bunostomum spp., Strongyloides spp. in small ruminants, cattle and camels-Chabertia ovina, Marshallagia marshali and Gaigeria Pachyscelis in sheep.

--adult and larval lungworm nematodes: Dictyocaulus spp., Protostrongylus spp. (small ruminants).

--adult liver flukes: Fasciola hepatica (small ruminants, cattle)-Dicrocoelium dendriticum (small ruminants)-Fasciola gigantica, Fascioloides magna, Paramphistoma (cattle).

--Tapeworms (removing of segments and scolices):Moniezia spp..


Mooreover, at recommended doses albendazole shows ovicidal activity against nematodal and fluke eggs.


Indications, dosage and administration:

For oral administration only.  Shake before use.

--Gastro-intestinal worms, lungworms, tapeworms:

    sheep, goats:  0.5ml/10 kg b.w.

     cattle, camels: 4ml/50 kg b.w.

--liver flukes:

     sheep, goats: 0.5-0.75 ml/10 kg b.w. (large liver fluke)

                            1ml/10kg b.w. (small liver fluke)

     cattle:             5ml/50kg b.w. (Fasciola hepatica)

                            7.5 ml/50kg b.w. (F.gigantica, F.magna, Paramphistoma)


Animals constantly exposed to internal parasites should be retreated as necessary.


Side effects, precautions:

  Because teratogenic effects have been reported in rats, rabbits and sheep, recommended dose rate should not be exceed in early pregnancy (i.e. the first month in sheep and goats, and the first 45 days of pregnancy in cattle and camels).

  For accurate dosing, accurate estimates of animal weight are essential.

  Albendazole is a very safe drug in ruminants. No side effects are likely to be expected after oral administration of recommended doses
